About Ujjain Kumbh Mela 2028

The Simhastha Kumbh Mela, the most powerful spiritual festival in India, held once every 12 years, will take place from 27th March to 21st May 2028 at Ujjain – one of the largest gatherings ever recorded in human history. Held on the banks of the holy River Shipra, this journey brings you to the very core of the soul, offering a rare chance to witness Naga Sadhus, Yogis and Swamis from across India as they gather for this once-in-12-years spiritual congregation.

Important Snaan Dates
27 March 2028 – Kumbh Period Begins – The sacred window officially opens, marking the beginning of spiritual activities across the city.

09 April 2028 – First Shahi Snaan – The opening royal bath with grand processions of akharas to the ghats.

22 April 2028 – Second Shahi Snaan – A major bathing day with massive gatherings along the holy Shipra river.

08 May 2028 – Vaishakh Purnima Snan – Full moon bathing considered one of the most auspicious dips of the Kumbh.

21 May 2028 – Last Shahi Snaan – The concluding royal bath marking the ceremonial end of Kumbh Mela.

Day-01          ARRIVE DELHI
Arrive Delhi
Transfer to Hotel (Check-in: 1400 hrs.) Overnight at the hotel.

Day-02          DELHI
Post breakfast city tour of Old Delhi including Red Fort (Drive Past), The Jama Masjid, India`s largest mosque, Rajghat – memorial of Mahatma Gandhi & a Rickshaw ride past through the silver street in Chandani Chowk. Afternoon sightseeing of New Delhi to include, Birla Mandir , Gurudwara bangla sahib, Qutab Minar, Drive past India gate and Government buildings. Overnight at hotel.

Day-03          DELHI – JAIPUR by surface (260 km/ 06 hrs)
After Breakfast leave for Jaipur by surface.
Arrive Jaipur & transfer to Hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day-04          JAIPUR – Amber- JAIPUR
Morning: visit of Amber Fort riding on elephant back. Miniatures painted on the walls depict hunting and war scenes, apart from festivals. Precious stones and mirrors are embedded into the plaster. En-route to Amber Fort, you will have a brief photography stop at Hawa Mahal – the Palace of Winds. 

Afternoon: – city tour of Jaipur which begins with a visit to the Maharaja’s City Palace. Jantar Mantar, which is the largest stone and marble crafted observatory in the world. Situated near the gate of the city palace, the observatory has 17 large instruments, many of them still in working condition. Overnight at the Hotel.

Day-05          JAIPUR / Fatehpur Sikri / AGRA by surface (250 km/ 05 hrs)
Breakfast at Hotel. Leave for Agra by surface enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri the imperial city of the Mughal dynasty built by Akbar. Upon arrival check in at hotel. Afternoon: Visit Taj Mahal undoubtedly one of the most romantic buildings of the world. Renowned for its architectural magnificence and aesthetic beauty, it counts among man’s proudest creations to commemorate his love (Friday Closed). Later visit Agra Fort. The fort is really a city within a city, which embraces the Moti Masjid, the Diwan-I-Am or the Hall of Public Audiences, the Diwan-I-Khas or the Hall of Private Audiences, the Octagonal Tower, Jahangir’s Palace and many more monuments”. Overnight at the Hotel.

Day-06          AGRA – BHOPAL by Train (12002-0755/1412 Hrs)

                    BHOPAL – UJJAIN by surface (190 Kms. / 04 Hrs.)
Breakfast at the hotel. In time transfer to the Airport to board the flight for Delhi. After arrival remain in transit to board the flight for Indore. After arrival drive to Ujjain. After arrival drive to the Holy City of Ujjain situated on the right bank of River Shipra. It is also called the City of Mahakal – Mahakaleshwar Jyotirling. According to ancient Hindu scriptures it was originally called Avantika. Later the name was changed to Ujjainyini (one who conquers with pride) by King Shiva of Avanti to commemorate his triumph over the demon king of Tripuri. Ujjain is also the site for triennial Kumbh mela.

On reaching Ujjain, check in to Camp for night stay.

Day-07          UJJAIN

Day-08          UJJAIN, PRAMUKH SHAHI SNAN (MAIN BATHING DATE – 09 April 2028)
Most important bathing day. It is a paradise for photographers and spiritually inspired travellers. This is the day on which herds of Naga Shadus can be seen while they go to take dip in the holy river, probably only place in universe where such sight is visible

Day-09          UJJAIN
Breakfast at the camp. Full day free for leisure activities on your own to explore Kumbh Mela. Overnight at the camp.

Day-10            UJJAIN – BHOPAL BY SURFACE 190 Kms. / 04 Hrs.

            BHOPAL – JHANSI BY TRAIN 12001 – 1525 / 1840 Hrs.

           JHANSI – ORCHHA BY SURFACE 20 Kms. / 40 Mins.
After breakfast drive to Bhopal, after arrival transfer to the Railway Station to board the Train to Jhansi. After arrival at Jhansi drive to Orchha. After arrival check in at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day-11          ORCHHA – KHAJURAHO BY SURFACE 175 Kms. / 03 Hrs.

KHAJURAHO – VARANASI BY TRAIN 26505 – 1520/2310 Hrs.

After breakfast drive to Khajuraho. Upon arrival sightseeing of Khajuraho temples. Sightseeing begins with visit to World Heritage Site Western Group of Temples. Here Kandariya Mahadev temple is the most popular and beautiful massive structure. It is a magnificent peace of artistic sculptural work. Khajuraho temples are more popular for erotic sculptured images but on your visit you will realize that such images are approx. 15% of all images and other images are Hindu gods, goddess, and nymphs.

In time transfer to the Railway Station to board the train for Varanasi.
On Arrival transfer to the hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day-12          VARANASI
This morning an early start for a dawn boat ride on the Ganges River. Ritual is a very important aspect of Hinduism and there is no better place to observe it than at the Ganges. You will view the thread ceremony, head shaving and food being offered to the departing souls.

A walk through narrow twisting lanes will give you a chance to witness the various rituals of the pilgrims and followed by city tour including Bharat Mata Temple, Shanta Durga Temple and Banaras Hindu University.
Drive back to hotel for breakfast.

Afternoon excursion to Sarnath (9 kms) where Buddha preached his first sermon after getting enlightenment.
Evening Aarti ceremony at River Ganges.
Overnight at hotel.

Day-12          VARANASI – DLEHI BY FLIGHT 6E2321-1300/1435 HRS.

LEAVE DELHI
Breakfast at the Hotel. In time transfer to the Airport to board the flight for Delhi. Upon arrival remain in transit to board the flight for onward destination.
